IL FARNETO - FRISANT BIANCO

Azienda Agricola Il Farneto is a small 8 hectare winery located between the hills Scandiano and Canossa in Castellarano in Western Emilia-Romagna. It was founded in the mid-90s by Marco Bertoni who dreamed of making natural wines that reflected their terroirs, and to contribute to sustainable agriculture initiatives, producing grapes while respecting the environment. Three decades on, and now with complete biodynamic certification, the vineyards are planted mainly towards local varietals like Spergola for whites and Marzemino for reds.

Produced from a blend of hand harvested Sauvignon Blanc and a local grape called Spergola. Cold maceration, soft press and first fermentation with native yeasts in concrete tanks. Springtime sees the addition of juice from the same harvest, with fermentation finished in bottle according to the ancestral method. Fresh as the ocean, with an appealing hazy yellow glow, this zesty, fragrant and pleasantly rustic fizz is an easy-drinking crowd pleaser with lots of vibrant acidity and appealing notes of peach, pineapple, citrus and a touch of moreish salinity on the finish.
